Q: How much formula does my baby need?
A: It depends on the baby's age, weight and appetite. Here is a basic "formula" for your baby's formula!

Infants under 6 months: About 2 ounces per pound of body weight every 24 hours. So an 8-pound baby needs about 16 ounces of formula, or eight 2-ounce bottles per day.

6-9 months: Once baby is eating solids, he'll need a little less formula each day. Baby won't need more than 36 ounces of formula each day.

9-12 months: Baby is getting more calories from food and should have 16 to 30 ounces of formula every 24 hours.

Q: How do I know if my baby's getting enough formula?
A: Baby's mood says a lot! A hungry baby will fuss, cry, or suck on his fingers, even after a full feeding. Look for at least six wet and four dirty diapers every 24 hours. If you're concerned that baby isn't gaining enough weight, talk to your doctor at your next visit.

Drink up, baby!
