Ready or not, Amazon Prime Day 2025 is almost here. From July 8 to July 11 (yes, Amazon has extended it to a four-day event), you'll find major savings on everything you and your baby need. Whether you’re checking off registry must-haves like car seats and strollers, or simply stocking up on essentials like diapers and wipes, Amazon Prime Day is the time to snag what you need without breaking the bank.

And with my help, you can save even more.

I’ve been covering Prime Day for six years, and in that time, I’ve picked up all the tricks to maximize your savings. I’ve also learned how to spot deals that are truly worth your money — and how to avoid the ones that, frankly, aren’t.

Here are my five smart strategies to help you stretch every dollar even further this Prime Day.

Don’t want to wait until Amazon Prime Day to save? Check out some of the best early Amazon Prime Day deals at our curated storefront.

#1. Utilize Your Registry Completion Discount

If you or your partner is pregnant, make sure you're signed up for an Amazon baby registry. Doing so unlocks access to the brand’s completion discount — a 15% off coupon you can put toward the gear you still need after your baby shower.

And even if you're not planning a shower, you can still create a private registry and apply the discount to bigger-ticket items like a stroller, car seat or crib.

Now, you can’t stack this discount on top of Prime Day deals (a bummer, I know!), but knowing you have it in your back pocket can help you shop smarter. For example, if the stroller you’re eyeing is 12% off during Prime Day, it might make sense to skip the sale and use your 15% discount later. On the flip side, if your favorite car seat is marked down 25%, that’s likely the best price you’ll see — so it’s worth grabbing while you can.

#2. Sign Up for Invite-Only Deals

This year, Amazon is offering a limited number of deep discounts on some highly coveted (and high-priced) items. To throw your hat in the ring, just click the “Request Invite” button near the “Add to Cart” option on the product page.

If you’re selected, you’ll receive an email with all the details on how to score the item at a ridiculously low price.

#3. Don’t Ignore the Lightning Deals

Amazon Prime Day is known for its flash deals on some of the most popular products — but you probably don’t have all day to keep tabs on every sale, especially since most only last a few hours (or until inventory is gone). That means there’s a good chance you could miss out.

To stay ahead, download the Amazon app and create a “Watch this deal” list. You’ll get a push notification when a deal is about to go live, so you’re ready to jump on it.

And if you miss the alert? Don’t stress. Just tap “Join the Waitlist” on the product page, and you’ll get a notification if another shopper doesn’t complete their purchase in time.

#4. Check Out Amazon Resale For Big Discounts

Amazon Resale (previously known as Amazon Warehouse) offers a vast selection of pre-owned and used items, ranging from smartphones to high chairs, at deeply discounted prices. This is a great way to scale back the cost of the gear you need, and not to mention, it’s more environmentally friendly than buying new. Although you might be nervous about the condition of a used item, worry not — each product is thoroughly tested by Amazon return specialists to make sure it’s working properly during a 20-point inspection. They also check for things like packaging damage and missing accessories. Each item is then given a grade to describe its condition (“like new,” “very good,” “good” or “acceptable”) so that you know what to expect.

During Prime Day, there could be additional deals on top of already-marked down Resale gear, helping you maximize your savings even more. Just remember that some items — like car seats, breast pumps and cribs — shouldn’t be bought secondhand for health and safety reasons.

#5. Do Your Research

Amazon Prime Day is a treasure trove of “too good to miss” deals, but some really are too good to be true. Over the years, I’ve picked up a few smart strategies to make sure I’m actually saving money during big sales events — and I’m not gatekeeping them any longer:

  • Check the product’s MSRP on the brand’s website: Amazon has been known to occasionally inflate the “original” price of an item to make a discount look more impressive. If you know what the brand is really selling it for, you can avoid getting duped.
  • Look beyond Amazon: Retailers, including Target and Walmart, are running alternative Prime Day sales — and their discounts can sometimes be even better.
  • Use a price-tracking site: Tools like CamelCamelCamel let you see how a product’s price on Amazon has changed over time — by the day, week, or month — so you can tell if the current “deal” is actually a bargain.

Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry, I’ve got you. Bookmark What to Expect’s Amazon Prime Day hub, where we use these tricks (plus our industry expertise) to find and highlight the very best deals for parents. We’ll update the page often — before, during, and after the four-day sale — so check back daily.
